In 2003, artist Sonia Madruga, based in the southeastern Brazilian city of Rio de Janeiro, had a great dream of hers come true: getting to know the homeland of Lebanese writer and painter Gibran Khalil Gibran. Using water from the mountains of Lebanon, Sonia painted 38 watercolours. Two such works are going to be on display, starting next Friday, at Mount Lebanon Athletic Club, in the city of São Paulo (SE Brazil).

Brazilian photographer Hélio Shiino is looking for Lebanese immigrants and descendants residing in Rio de Janeiro to show the adaptation of their customs and traditions to the Rio style of life. The project is going to show the history of immigration, but will also try to show a current face.
