Animated films will be an addition in the 11th Arab World Film Festival, set to run until August 28 in São Paulo. The event will feature 30 motion pictures and discussions with Arab and Brazilian filmmakers.

The Consulate General of Lebanon in Rio de Janeiro translated and printed the Rio de Janeiro’s official Quick Guide of Useful Tips and Tourist Information. The guide will be handed out to Arabic-speaking tourists.

An exhibition at a local museum will feature the work of photographer Jacques Menassa. The pictures are from different periods in the life of the artist, who is based in Lebanon, but used to live in Brazil.

Initiative from embassies of Brazil and Portugal introduced the language as one of the courses taught at Hamad Bin Khalifa University. The next group starts classes on September 20. Classes for kids are being considered.

Nacif Elias, a Brazilian-born, Lebanese-naturalized judoka, is competing in the Olympics for the first time. His goal is to get to the top of the podium and to make judo a mainstream sport in the Arab country.
