The meeting was designed for worldwide intellectual authorities to discuss the directions of Muslim society. Nasr is the founder of the department of Arabic Language at USP, and translated the Koran from Arabic into Portuguese.

Artist Ali Cherri, who holds a degree in Graphic Design, is currently in São Paulo, by invitation of the Armando Álvares Penteado Foundation, to finish editing a video about the recent war in Lebanon, and to relate some of his experience to students and teachers at the institution. Cherri wants to return to Lebanon in late March with the finished work in hand.
