A group of 43 companies from the city of Terra Roxa, in the southern Brazilian state of Paraná started two years ago a cluster of clothes for newborns. Together they produce 300,000 articles per month and have revenues of US$ 1.37 million monthly. The aim now is to win the foreign market.

The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Industries of the State of Santa Catarina are going to take businessmen from the building materials sector to Kuwait, United Arab Emirates and Qatar. The trip will take place between the 16th of October and 5th of November. Directors at the two entities met yesterday to discuss the details.

Fennearte, the largest fair in the sector in Latin America, follows on until Sunday in the city of Olinda, in the northeastern Brazilian state of Pernambuco. Handicrafts from Egypt and another ten countries, including Brazil, are part of the exhibit. Cushions, vases, clothes, carpets and crystals are the main products from abroad shown.

The internationalisation strategy of the Brazilian brand of accessories, famous for their sunglasses, started in 2005, with the opening of the first point of sales in Lisbon. Today, Chilli Beans has three franchises in Portugal and their own store in the United States. The company now wants to find a trade partner in the Arab countries.

The government of the Arab country suspended for six months the ban on the purchase of the product from foreign markets and removed the tariffs charged over many foodstuff products, amongst them bovine meat. According to directors at the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, the measure opens new business opportunities for Brazilian companies.

The Brazilian fashion designer signed her first sale to Saudi Arabia in the beginning of this month. Elisa Chanan is one of the new names in Brazilian couture and is part of the Fashion Rio fashion shows, in Rio de Janeiro. She started exporting in the second semester of 2005 and already has clients in six different countries.

Five importers from the United Arab Emirates, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia are going to see the main fashion event in Brazil, which starts tomorrow. They are part of a buying project organised by the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency and the Brazilian Association of Stylists.

The greatest shoes fair in Latin America received importers from the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Lebanon and Syria. The shoes company Tomi Salloum is going to export 3,000 pairs to Lebanon and Arezzo should start selling to the Emirates. Klin, in turn, wishes to supply to the whole region.

The meeting, organised by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Federation of Industries of the State of Paraná, is going to discuss business between Brazil and the countries in the Middle East and North Africa. Holding a trade mission from the state of Paraná to the region next year is also on the agenda.

The entity plans on taking about 10 Brazilian companies to the 53rd edition of the show, which takes place between the 3rd and 12th of September in the Syrian capital. The products that interest the local market the most are medical and dentistry equipments, raw-materials in general, agriculture machinery and commodities.

Co-op Islami, specialised in selling halal foods, wishes to expand its network of partners in Brazil to ensure supply to the new supermarkets they are planning on opening in Qatar, Bahrain, Oman, South Africa, India and United Arab Emirates. Representatives of the company visited the Arab Brazilian Chamber yesterday looking for help in finding exporters.
