In all, 38 companies from Brazil participated in the largest organic product fair in the world, which took place between February 16 and 19 in Nuremberg, Germany. Contacts were made with importers from 26 countries, among them Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
The measure may contribute to the increase in trade with the Arab world, since many countries in the region are suppliers of this kind of product. Last year, Brazil bought US$ 191 million in fertilisers from the Arabs, especially Morocco and Tunisia.
The conference is scheduled for March 06 and 07 in Manama, capital of the country, and should focus mainly on promotion of private investment in the region. The event is organized by the League of Arab States and by the General Union of Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture for Arab Countries.
The Tunisian government has opened an international tender for the building, administration and operation of an oil refinery 340 kilometres away from Tunis, the country capital. The production capacity will be 120,000 barrels of oil a day. The deadline for bid submission is the end of March and they may be by foreign companies.
