A Portuguese-Arabic illustrated practical guide by Norma Simão Adad Mirandola was launched last weekend by Adonis publishing house. The book first started as a word list created by Mirandola to help her daughter learn Arabic. They are Syrian descendants.

Her first book, Near to the Wild Heart, was translated from Portuguese into Arabic by Safa Jubran. Lispector is one of the greatest names of Brazil’s 20th-century literature. Official launch took place in the Guimarães Rosa Institute in Beirut.

The Support Program for the Translation and Publication of Brazilian Authors Abroad has contributed for 17 translations in Egypt, three in Lebanon and one in Germany to have the resources to translate the stories of Brazilian authors into the Arabic.

The works were shortlisted in an art contest on the Tripoli Fair venue, designed by Brazil’s Oscar Niemeyer. Held by Brazil’s Embassy in Beirut and the Guimarães Rosa Institute – Beirut, the exhibit will run from April 12 to 27 at the Marsah gallery.
