São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce is opening its 60th anniversary celebration with the release of a commemorative stamp and postmark of the Postal Services. The launch ceremony will be held on June 29th at the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo. Other actions will be promoted by the organization, such as the release of a book, to celebrate the date.
The anniversary date of the Arab Brazilian Chamber is July 2nd. “The event will mark the beginning of the 60th anniversary festivities,” says CEO Michel Alaby. “We have chosen the Assembly [as the venue] so that the event is an official one, and the representative Fernando Capez [PSDB party] is the sponsor of the idea,” he says. “The postage stamp symbolizes Brazil and celebrates an important date to the Arab community in the country,” says Alaby.
The ceremony at the Legislative Assembly will be attended by members of the Arab colony, clubs and associations. The stamp will not be available for sale, it will only be used in mail sent by the Arab Brazilian Chamber. The postmark, in turn, will be used for 30 days at the Corifeu branch of the Postal Services (Av Corifeu de Azevedo Marques 1383).
To Alaby, the Arab Brazilian Chamber achieved important milestones during these 60 years. “The most important one is increasing the volume of trade between Brazil and the Arab countries,” he says. “Secondly, the Arab Brazilian Chamber was acknowledged by the General Union of Arab Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture and the League of Arab States as Brazil’s only official chamber of commerce. Another highlight was the Brazilian government’s recognition that our organization works to develop economic relations with the Arabs, and the recognition, from Arab businessmen and governments, that we are a gateway into Brazil.”
The mission of the Arab Brazilian Chamber is to increase the exchange between Arabs and Brazilians in economy, culture and tourism. Several different actions are promoted on yearly basis to consolidate partnerships, showcase opportunities and establish closer ties between the two regions, including participation in business fairas in Arab countries and in Brazil, business missions, matchmaking rounds, etc. The Arab Brazilian Chamber has a roster of members to which it provides exclusive services, placing them in touch with potential Arab partners and vice versa.
