São Paulo – Fitness wear by the São Paulo-based company Pnyx has conquered buyers in approximately 15 countries. The brand began exporting five years ago, and currently it ships its items to Chile, Mexico, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Spain and South Africa, among others nations.
“We go to fitness industry fairs in Brazil, which are attended by an international crowd. Many people contact us through our website as well,” says Pynx manager Alessandra Leal of how the company began exporting.
Pnyx manufactures an average of 10,000 items per month. In addition to fitness clothes, the company makes beachwear for women, such as bikinis, swimsuits and robes. Approximately 40% of the company’s output is exported, mostly fitness items.
“Foreigners favour more basic, plain clothes, especially in the colder countries,” says Leal. According to the manager, the company wants to increase its exports over the course of one year, but has no set goal yet. “We want to increase because this type of sale is more guaranteed, there is no insolvency,” she says.
To achieve growth, the company plans to attend foreign fairs. “We are considering going to something abroad. We are already in touch with an agency [which organizes fairs in foreign countries] and we are waiting for an opportunity.”
The Pnyx headquarters are located in the city of Limeira, in the interior of the state of São Paulo. The company also has a distributor in Chile.
