São Paulo – Registration for private-sector projects offering concrete solutions to address climate change has been extended until the end of this month. A public call to select the best solutions in eight thematic areas was launched in the first half of this year by the Sustainable Business COP30 initiative, also known as SB COP, led by Brazil’s industry lobby, CNI.
Companies, institutions, and private organizations with projects aligned with the Paris Agreement—signed in 2015 to keep global warming below 2°C above pre-industrial levels—may apply to the public call. Projects may be submitted under the following thematic areas: energy transition, circular economy and materials, bioeconomy, food systems, nature-based solutions, sustainable and resilient cities, finance and investment for the transition, and green jobs and skills.
Five main criteria will be evaluated: scale of impact, feasibility within five years, economic return or affordability, innovation, and alignment with SB COP’s strategic priorities. Selected cases may be presented during the official SB COP program, an initiative aligned with COP30 governance that seeks to expand dialogue between companies and governments to influence public policy. COP30 will be held in November in Belém, Brazil.
The initial application deadline was July 18, but it has been extended until the end of this month. Applications can be submitted at this link. More information is available here.
