São Paulo – Fashion jewelry from Belatriz, a company from Paraná state, already adorn women in Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Mauritania and Libya. Alone, Saudi Arabia buys around 5 to 10% of the brand’s exports, which also ships to more than 20 countries.
“They like stones, silver and gold-plated sets also with stones. They really like the Brazilian natural stones and love shiny”, says Martha Garcia, manager of Exports and International Marketing, about the Saudis that import her brand’s products. According to the executive, the buyers are businessmen from cities like Riad and Jeddah, owners of several stores.
Belatriz manufactures earrings, bracelets, necklace, pendants, rings, ankle bracelets, tight necklaces and wedding rings. Rings for men and pieces for children are also part of the brand’s portfolio. Per month, the company manufactures around 70,000 pieces. The brand launches, per year, four different collections.
For the Arab countries, the company exports mainly sets of bracelet, rings and earrings. The Saudis also buy customized pieces. “We sell pendants [women] with the word Allah [God, in Arabic], gold-plated and with stones. Now, they have asked us to create something for men and we have a project developing rings and pendants for men also with the word Allah”, says the manager. They expect to launch the collection with the new pieces until the end of the year.
The company develops fashion jewelry in pure silver, white gold-plated silver, yellow gold and also rhodium. “Our pieces are nickel-free and hypoallergenic”, says Garcia.
Besides the Arab markets in which the company currently operates, there are others that also attract Belatriz’s attention. “Oman, Yemen, Iraq, Syria and Egypt are markets that interest us. Arab women really like jewelry and silver is an option [to gold] they are using”, says the manager.
Together with sales to new markets in the region, the executive says that they also wants to resume sales to old buyers in Saudi Arabia and in Morocco, a country that previously imported from the company. “We’re betting heavily in this market. The Arab women are a lot like Brazilian women in the matter of adorning themselves” says Garcia.
Within Belatriz’s plans for the Arab world is also the participation, next year, in the fair Saudi Arabian Jewelry & Watch Show, which takes place in the Saudi capital, and also the attendance in an event of the jewelry sector in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
Founded in 1991, Belatriz is located in the city of Paranavaí, Paraná state, and has 200 employees.
