São Paulo – Iraq’s dry climate turned the Arab country into one of the largest markets for truck colling systems of the Rio Grande do Sul-based company Resfri Ar. Sales to Iraq started in 2012 through contacts made in fairs in Brazil and Germany. Since then, the company has a local distributor, which performs the installation in the vehicles of the end clients.
“The cooling system is made to be used, preferably, at night, when the truck driver is sleeping. It’s connected on the truck’s battery. The product is based on evaporation. The drier the environment, the more evaporation there is and the more it reduces the temperature”, explains Daniele Bagatini, exports coordinator.
According to her, Iraq “is a market very much like ours, including in truck’s manufacturers”. “They are looking for products with the lowest cost and the cooling system reduces the temperature at a lower cost”, she said. According to the executive, sales of the cooling systems to Iraq go from the end of the year to February.
Searching for new clients in the Arab world, the company already took part in two editions of Automechanika Dubai, a fair of auto equipment that is held once a year in the United Arab Emirates. Bagatini says that among the contacts she made in the fair, the company is studying opportunities in Saudi Arabia, Morocco and Egypt. “Saudi Arabia is the country that showed to us the most interest [in the company’s products]”, says the coordinator.
The cooling system for trucks is Resfri Ar’s flagship product, and the company has the capacity to manufacture 8,000 systems per month. Exports mean 4% of the company’s revenues. “We want to reach 10% of revenues with exports”, says Bagatini. The company also manufactures agriculture cooling systems and pressure gauges, among other items.
In total, Resfri Ar exports to 24 countries. Besides Iraq, Poland, Holland, Bolivia and Uruguay are among the main markets of the company, which is developing a new product to present abroad. “We recently launched refrigerators to trucks and will start to export it”, she points out.
Founded in 1998, Resfri Ar is based in the city of Vacaria, Rio Grande do Sul, and has 130 employees.
