São Paulo – New Gold Egypt, an Egyptian company that produces jewellery and artwork in gold, is looking for suppliers of Brazilian gemstones. The company already works with Brazilian gems, which it imports from other countries, but now aims to buy directly from Brazil.
According to Deborah Ramos, a Brazilian acting as commercial representative, the company’s interest is in stones like amethyst, citrine, aquamarine, quartz, rose quartz, tourmaline, Paraíba tourmaline and other gems.
Ramos says that in May, Mostafa Nassar, the owner of New Egypt Gold, came to Brazil in the delegation that accompanied the visit of Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi. "He was delighted with Brazilian stones," she said. According to the executive, Nassar is seeking contact with Brazilian suppliers so that he can return to the country to negotiate.
Among the jewels produced by the Egyptian industry are rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets, necklaces, anklets, cufflinks and tie clips. In addition to jewellery, the company also produces gilded and diamond products, like picture and photograph frames.
"Brazilian stones are very famous," says Ramos, regarding the success of Brazilian gems in Egypt. According to her, New Egypt Gold exports to several countries, including Germany, Sudan, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, India and Turkey.
New Egypt Gold is headquartered in Cairo and produces in other Egyptian cities, like Alexandria and Mansoura.
