São Paulo – The Egyptian textile industry is eyeing the Brazilian market. Several companies from the Arab country have contacted Egypt’s trade office in São Paulo looking for support to find buyers here.
One of them is Sammakia Embrator, leading company in Egyptian market of men’s and women’s underwear, with a portfolio of more than 40 items. The company operates in the Middle East, North Africa and Asia, and has its products for sale in over one thousand stores. Among its main buying markets are Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Morocco, Libya, Lebanon and South Korea.
Based in Alexandria, Misr Amreya produces 100% Egyptian cotton yarn, textiles, bedding, tablecloths and napkins. The company has been doing business abroad for 25 years, exporting to countries in the Middle East, Africa, Europe and the United States.
Elbanna produces sewing threads, crochet yarn and linen yarn. Founded in 2008, the company exports to France, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Greece, Spain and China.
According to Egypt’s trade office, the other companies interested in exporting to Brazil are Sky Tex and Shamtex (cotton yarn), Hesni (cotton textile, viscose, polyester, linen and others), Sogic (textiles and clothing), KCG Textile (curtains and bed sheets) and Misr Spinning, Weaving & Beida (textiles and bedding).
According to data from the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Services (MDIC), in 2016 Brazil imported USD 9.4 million in textile products from Egypt. Among the Arab countries, in the sector, Egyptians are the top sellers to the Brazilian market.
