São Paulo – A group of 23 researchers from the Brazilian Agricultural Research Corporation (Embrapa) was recognized by the Rural Development Administration (RDA) for the international importance of its scientific research. The RDA is an organization headquartered in South Korea that operates in support of rural areas in the world. The Embrapa researchers are going to receive the RDA Overseas Honourable Researcher certificate.
The selection took into consideration the total volume of research and its international impact. Among those guests invited is Luiz Henrique Capparelli Mattoso, head of Research and Development and coordinator of the Nanotechnology Network for Agribusiness at the Embrapa Agricultural Instruments. He has a post-doctorate in Nanotechnology from the Embrapa Laboratory Abroad program and coordinates networks for investigation of nanotechnology applied to agribusiness.
Among those celebrated are Alexandre Lima Nepomuceno, of Embrapa Soy, Alexandre Rodrigues Caetano, of Embrapa Genetic and Biotechnology Resources, Eduardo Delgado Assad, of Embrapa Agricultural Information Technology, Flávio Breseghello, of Embrapa Rice and Beans, José Ivo Baldani, of Embrapa Agrobiology, and Katia Regina Evaristo de Jesus-Hitzschky, of Embrapa Environment.
RDA works to try to reduce the social inequality and to improve the quality of life of rural population. Among the activities are support to the improvement of housing, the creation of work posts, the creation of rural companies and cooperatives, construction and improvement of schools, health centres and public services. The organisation operates in partnership with other organisations and with local governments, as well as non-governmental organisations.
