São Paulo – Last week, Netflix released the second season of the comedy show Emily in Paris. The show is known for portraying the world of fashion and luxury brands in the city of light. In the new season opener, the protagonist Emily Cooper, played by actress Lily Collins, wears a green jacket with short sleeves by Lebanese designer Elie Saab. Pictured above, Emily (center) with the Arab designer‘s jacket.
The apparel is a shacket style, a combination of shirt and jacket; it was created with the format of a classic shirt, with square proportions and thick fabrics for the cold days.
US-raised character Emily works and lives her love dramas in Paris alongside her friend Mindy Chen (Ashley Park). The outfits are a focal point of the series, as the characters wear pieces by brands like Valentino and Balmain. The costume designer is Marylin Fitoussi, who works with Emmy-winning consultant Patricia Field, known for her work on Sex and The City.
The series became famous for portraying the French and life in Paris in a somewhat clichéd way. It became a love-it-or-hate-it show, but in the end, Netflix benefits the most, as the series is watched worldwide, and the second season features several influential names in French and global fashion.
Emily’s style has evolved this season, and the Chicago-born’s wardrobe seems to have taken a colorful turn luring the fashion world in a good or bad way. Throughout the series, Emily, Mindy, and the monochromatic Camille continue to dress up in lush outfits.
Among the countless looks displayed by Emily throughout the ten episodes, right at the opening of the second season – entitled “Voulez-Vous Coucher Avec Moi?” – Emily walks into the office of the marketing company she works wearing the green shacket by Lebanese designer Elie Saab.
The minicoat is part of the Beirut-born couturier’s Spring 2021 collection and was paired with a Versace striped polo shirt and vintage Thierry Mugler plaid skirt.
Other looks in this season are from designers such as Oscar de la Renta, Roger Vivier, Mary Katrantzou, La Perla, Vassilis Zoulias, and Rianna + Nina.
