São Paulo – The Foreign Trade Chamber (Camex) of the Brazilian Ministry of Industry, Foreign Trade and Services lifted the export tax on wet blue and salt leather last Wednesday (29). This means these varieties will be sold from Brazil tax-free, thereby becoming more competitive.
The tax was a way of discouraging the export of raw material and encouraging sales of product at more advanced processing stages. The lifting of the tariff was a request from agricultural organizations and championed by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply.
