São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce will take part in the International Agriculture Show in Morocco (Siam), slated for April 28th to May 3rd in Meknès. The organization is attending in partnership with the Brazilian Foreign Ministry and the Association of Brazilian Beef Exporters (Abiec).
At this time, Morocco does not import beef from Brazil. According to the Arab Chamber CEO Michel Alaby, however, the Arab country’s government recently signaled that it could open its beef market to Brazilian product.
“We decided to go and check whether they will really open their market to our beef,” he said about going to the exhibition in Meknès. According to the CEO, the Chamber is also canvasing the market for opportunities to sell agricultural machinery.
One day prior to the show’s opening, Arab Chamber executives will also attend the 8th Agricultural Meeting: “Inventing the future of agriculture, a project for all.” At the event, ministers and authorities from countries in Europe and Africa will discuss the outlook for agriculture and challenges relating to population and territory protection and the planet’s environmental equilibrium.
According to data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade and compiled by the Arab Chamber, in 2014, Brazil exported US$ 568.3 million worth of goods to Morocco, especially sugar, cereals and agricultural machinery. Morocco is the third leading buyer of Brazilian products in North Africa, after Egypt and Algeria.
