Brasília – The federal government’s tax revenues in 2016 totaled BRL 1.289 trillion (USD 409 billion) in 2016, a real decline of 2.97% (adjusted to the inflation as measured by the Extended National Consumer Price Index – IPCA) in comparison to 2015. The data was made available this Friday (27) by the Federal Revenue Service.
In December, the federal government collected BRL 127.607 billion (USD 40.50 billion), a real decline of 1.19% in comparison to the same month of 2015.
The Brazilian federal government’s tax revenues have been registering consecutive declines due to the economic downturn. Last year’s October and November were the exceptions, with real growth in these months driven by the assets regularization program, also known as repatriation. Overall, the program collected BRL 46.8 billion (USD 14.85 billion).
