São Paulo – World soccer’s governing body FIFA confirmed in an online event on Wednesday (11) that Saudi Arabia will host the 2034 World Cup, and that Morocco will be one of the host countries for the 2030 event, alongside Portugal and Spain. In Saudi Arabia, the matches will be held in 15 stadiums across five cities—capital Riyadh, as well as Al Khobar, Jeddah, Abha, and Neom.
Both the opening match and the final of the World Cup will be held at the King Salman Stadium in Riyadh. Neom is a city being built on the Red Sea coast with the aim of being entirely sustainable.
Both the 2030 and 2034 World Cup host cities were chosen without competitors, by acclamation, and announced at the FIFA Extraordinary Congress by its president, Gianni Infantino.
