São Paulo – The first group of Saudi female soldiers graduated this week at the Women’s Cadre Training Center of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces after completing 14 weeks of basic training. The news was published on the Saudi news website Arab News this Thursday (2).
Saudi Arabia opened military recruitment to women in February this year. In May, the first group of female recruits began their training, which has now been completed. In addition to giving their oath, the graduates that stood out in training were announced and awarded.
Gen. Adel Al-Balawi, head of the Saudi Arabian Armed Forces Education and Training Authority, said at the graduation that the center provides training with world-class standards meeting the needs of the recruits.
The Saudi government has been implementing a series of policies in recent years for the greater inclusion of women in the local society. Among the recent initiatives was the permission to drive, travel abroad unaccompanied, and live independently.
