São Paulo – The global beans and pulses market will be in discussion at a forum next August in Curitiba, Paraná. The event will be joined by the Dubai, UAE-based Global Pulses Confederation (GPC). The pulse category includes beans, peas, lentils, chickpeas, etc.
The Brazilian Forum of Dry Bean, Pulses and Special Crops will be held from August 15 to 17 at Expo Unimed Curitiba by the Brazilian Beans and Pulses Institute (Ibrafe). In its sixth edition, the forum will bring together producers, technicians, engineers, packers, importers, exporters, wholesalers and other industry players.
The goal is to foster debate on the industry and international cooperation in addressing common challenges and opportunities. Topics covered will include the global production and sales scenarios, productivity enhancement, new technologies and technical advances in the field.
Speakers will include GPC vice president Cindy Brown, who will discuss the organization’s work. The non-profit organization represents different pulse production chain segments, comprising 24 national associations and over 600 private sector players. The Forum’s organizers said the GPC will host a global forum in Brazil in 2019. The association is licensed by the Dubai Multi Commodity Center (DMCC), a which coordinates commodity trade flows in the emirate.
There will be lectures on sustainable management of whiteflies, opportunities and challenges in pest biocontrol, high yield-oriented bean tree architecture, bean and pulse consumption trends, sustainable farming, etc.
In addition to lectures by specialists, the Forum will feature a trade show and B2B sessions. Exhibitors will showcase new developments that can lead to improved crops, including yield-oriented company Syngenta, seed and genetic improvement company Agro Norte Pesquisas e Sementes, seed company Sementes Marambaia, and refrigeration and remote monitoring company Conela.
