Brasília – The auction of four port facilities this Friday (22) by Brazil’s federal government at the São Paulo Stock Exchange grossed BRL 219.529 million (USD 57.928 million) in concession payments. The winning bidder for three areas in Cabedelo, Paraíba was Consórcio Nordeste, represented by brokerage firm Corretora Ativa. Concession of the facility in the Port of Vitória (ES) was secured by Consórcio Navegantes Logistica, represented by Itaú.
Investment in the four terminals is slated to amount to BRL 199 million. Concessions for the so-called ‘brownfield’ areas in Paraíba – with existing facilities set to undergo improvements through more modern, streamline contracts – will be in effect for 25 years. Infrastructure minister Tarcísio de Freitas said during a press conference that the auction exceeded the government’s expectations.
