Brasília – Financial institutions surveyed by the Ministry of Finance expect the central government’s primary deficit, which includes the National Treasure, Social Security and Central Bank, to reach BRL 138.543 billion (USD 38.90 billion) this year. The forecast stands below the deficit target of BRL 159 billion (USD 44.65 billion) established by the government. In April, the banks’ forecast was of BRL 136.103 billion (USD 38.22 billion).
The data is from the survey Fiscal Prism, conducted by the Secretariat of Economic Policy of the Ministry of Finance, based on information from the financial market. For 2019, the financial institutions expect a deficit of BRL 105.929 billion (USD 29.74 billion), against the BRL 107.304 billion (USD 30.13 billion) of April’s forecast.
