Brasília – The Ministry of Science, Technology, Innovation and Communication of Brazil (MCTIC) wants to encourage the development of startups to create technologies for irrigation, water distribution and reuse, including desalinated water. The experience will take place at the recently opened Desalination Technology Test Center (CTTD) at the Federal University of Campina Grande (UFCG), Paraíba.
“The center will have an incubator, a project management office, a management office, funding, and patents,” ministry Marcos Pontes explained to the show Brasil em Pauta at TV Brasil.
According to Pontes, the center’s goal is to go beyond the development of technologies. The experiences are meant to be sold. “Brazil stops at the prototype stage,” he commented. “The specializations, master’s and doctoral studies result in great prototypes and ideas that never reach the market. Now, they will,” he promised.
The minister was recently in the United Arab Emirates, where he visited a series of research and innovation institutes.
