Gov’ts discuss financial support to airlines

Several countries consider plans of assistance to the sector in the face of flight cancellations due to coronavirus.

Rome – Governments of Europe and other continents are considering launching financial packages aimed at supporting airlines. Many companies have been forced to cancel most of their international flights amid harsh restrictions on entry of people to contain the dissemination of the new coronavirus.

The Italian press reported that Italia’s government is considering nationalize Alitalia airline, which has struggled. In the United Kingdom, the government announced plans to discuss support packages to airlines and airports.

On its turn, Moscow has promised to allow airlines to put off tax payments. Other nations such as Germany have studied measures to ease the damage suffered by air companies.
