São Paulo – At least 24 million new jobs will be created globally until 2030 if the proper policies for the promotion of the green economy are implemented. The data is from a report by the International Labour Organization (ILO) released this Monday (24).
The “World Employment and Social Outlook 2018: Greening with Jobs” states that the creation of new jobs will come with the adoption of sustainable practices in the energy sector, such as the use of electric cars and the increase of energy efficiency of buildings.
ILO shows that the actions to limit global warming to two Celsius degrees will result in the creation of jobs way above the six million that will be lost due to global warming until 2030.
“Jobs rely heavily on a healthy environment and the services that it provides. The green economy can enable millions more people to overcome poverty, and deliver improved livelihoods for this and future generations,” said ILO Deputy Director-General Deborah Greenfield.
