São Paulo — Saudi Arabia has launched the first vehicles from local electric carmaker CEER. Sold under the Exobot brand, the cars are available as a sedan and an SUV and are part of a seven-model lineup that will be launched over the next five years, Saudi state news agency SPA reported on Monday (21).
The vehicles will be manufactured at CEER’s Manufacturing Complex, which, according to the SPA, is the largest automotive production facility in the Middle East and one of the most technologically advanced in the world. The sedan and SUV are inspired by Saudi Arabia’s landscape. The vehicles were designed and developed locally to meet high global standards, the agency said.
Future launches will include midsize and compact vehicles with a range of powertrain options to meet different customer needs. The company was launched in 2022 by the Public Investment Fund (PIF). By 2034, CEER is expected to contribute more than SAR 30 billion (USD 8 billion) to Saudi Arabia’s gross domestic product.
The launch was inaugurated by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, who is also prime minister and chairman of the PIF’s Board of Directors. The move is part of the Saudi Vision 2030 national strategy for economic diversification and development, with a focus on developing the industrial sector and strengthening the country’s position in the global automotive industry.
“The launch of CEER’s first vehicles represents another step forward in Saudi Arabia’s progression to build a sustainable and prosperous industrial ecosystem. It further enables the automotive sector as a key driver of economic growth, through attracting investments, empowering national talent, and expanding the private sector’s role to further position Saudi Arabia to become a leading regional and global hub for this industry,” the prince said.
