São Paulo – The hair products of the São Paulo-based S’ollér Brasil are exported to nine countries in the Middle East and North Africa. The company has a client in Saudi Arabia that, besides its own purchases, takes the Brazilian company’s products to Qatar, Bahrain, United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq, Tunisia and Morocco.
“He buys a lot of things for his own stores and for another clients”, says Joel Fogaça Júnior, international director of the company. Differently from what happens in Brazil, where the lines of professional hair products are sold directly in the salons, in the Arab countries these items are also found in stores. “The salon’s professionals go to the stores to buy it. There are some that go to the client’s house with the desired product, or they bring the product to the salon”, he explains.
Sales to Arabs started five years ago. “Today, he buys our complete line of produts. We have more than 300 products, a complete line for hairdressers”, says Fogaça. The line for hair straightening, for instance, includes shampoos, treatment cream and beauty hair mask. There are also a line of hair coloring and matte hair masks (for hair toning), among other items.
Besides the stores and salons of its clients, S’ollér wants to expand its presence in the Arab countries through its own stores. The first one in the region opened around one year ago, in Bahrain. “These are flagship stores that we are placing throughout the world”, says Fogaça. “We’re planning to open one in Dubai also”, says the executive, adding that the store in Bahrain “sells a lot”.
“It’s a market that we really like, that buys well”, says Fogaça about exports to Arabs. “We have a good relationship with the client from Saudi Arabia and there’s a lot of room to expand”, he points out.
Currently, the products by S’ollér are sold in 40 countries. Besides the Arab nations, the company exports to Iran, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Peru, Uruguay and Paraguay, among others.
Per month, the company manufactures 30 tons of products. From this total, approximately half of it is sent to foreign markets and, among the products sold abroad, around 50 to 60% go to the Middle East and North Africa.
Founded in 2004, S’ollér Brasil is based in the city of Botucatu, 229 km from São Paulo, and has 70 employees.
