São Paulo – The history of Islam will be the topic of the next course to be made available by Revista Diáspora – Oriente Médio & Norte da África (the Diaspora Magazine – Middle East & North Africa) and by the school Integra Educação Avançada. ‘A History of Islam’ will be taught online starting February 22, and each Monday during the next four weeks, from 6 pm to 8 pm.
The course will discuss the formative elements Islamism and provide tools for an analytical take on this religious tradition and its main interpretative currents.

There are no requirements to enroll. The course is intended for people seeking in-depth knowledge of Islam, from its inception to now; and for anyone interested in the Middle East and North Africa, including high school teachers, graduate and postgraduate students of International Relations, Political Science, Sociology, Anthropology, History, Communication, and Religious Studies.
The course will last 10 hours. It will be taught by Liza Dumovich, who holds a doctorate degree in Anthropology from Universidade Federal Fluminense (UFF). Dumovich has also been an associate researcher at the UFF’s Middle East studies center Núcleo de Estudos do Oriente Médio (NEOM) since 2010.
She is the cofounder and editor-in-chief at Revista Diáspora – a free online magazine –and the coordinator of Human Science courses at Integra Educação Avançada. The magazine features scientific content from Brazil and the world about the Middle East, North Africa, and their diasporas.
