São Paulo — The Immigrant Fest this year will feature attractions from 43 countries, including Morocco, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria and Palestine. The event will take place physically from December 17 through 19 from 10 am to 6 pm at the Immigration Museum. Tickets are limited and on sale on the website of the Museum that holds the festival.
The performance in front of the old Immigrants’ Lodge in São Paulo’s Brás neighborhood will air live on the Museum’s YouTube channel and the platform #CulturaEmCasa.
Performances will include concerts with artists from Lebanon, Morocco, Poland and Togo. At the food court of the event, typical recipes of each country are offered. Dishes include options from Egypt, Austria, Congo, Lithuania, Mexico, Norway, Turkey and others.
Cuisine workshops are also schedule. Participants will teach how to make some recipes like stuffed grape leaves from Syria and ceviche from Peru.
Dance classes include traditional styles from Palestine and countries like Armenia and South Korea. Other attractions are long-term exhibitions of the museum like “Migrating: Experiences, Memories and identities” and temporary exhibits like “1300 – From the Ashes, A Tree,” “Invisible Faces of Immigration in Brazil,” and “Women on the Move.”
The event will follow health protocols, requiring proof of full COVID-19 vaccination at the entrance. Those who took only the first dose of the vaccine must present a PCR test (taken up to 48 hours before the event) or an antigen test (up to 24 hours).
