Rio de Janeiro – Industrial output was up 0.3% in March from April this year. The hike came after a 1.4% drop in March from February. The numbers are from the Monthly Industrial Survey issued this Tuesday (4) by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE).
However, output was down 3.9% year-on-year in April, 0.1% in the quarter moving average, 2.7% year-to-date and 1.1% in the 12 months through April.
Month-on-month in April, industrial production increased in three out of four categories, including durable consumer goods. Capital goods production was also up, including machinery and equipment, up 2.9%, and semi- and non-durable consumer goods, up 2.6%.
