São Paulo – The growing Brazilian economy has attracted a delegation of Moroccan businessmen to the country, seeking innovative construction products. They are currently in Brazil to attend the Feicon Batimat fair, which opens this Tuesday (18th) in São Paulo. Last Monday (17th) they paid a visit to the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.
“Our main goal at Feicon Batimat is to seek out innovation,” said Amal Belkhemmar, the International Operations manager at the French Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Morocco. She is the sole woman and the head of the 13-strong group.
“Our main mission is to bring members so they can discover international markets. Brazil is an interesting market, especially so because it is growing a lot, seeing as they are about to host the World Cup. This is an opportunity to discover the country and its market, to explore the local tourism industry and see if there are any opportunities for mutual trade,” she said.
One of the members of the Moroccan delegation is Mohamed Eddouib, the general manager for Famasser, based in Casablanca. “Famasser manufactures locks and doorknobs, but we also import kitchenware, doors and furniture, apart from exporting items. These are our areas of interest,” he explained. To him, attending the fair provides an opportunity to learn more about the Brazilian construction market. “We are always open to any opportunities that may arise,” he said.
Mohamed Maniar, the CEO of electrical wiring company Segrelec, is also in Brazil looking for new products. “We are here to see the market, to learn about Brazilian construction material. Our interest lies in importing products to Morocco. We want to see how electrical wiring works in Brazil, whether it is the same as in Morocco, and to compare the materials and costs,” said the executive.
At the Arab Brazilian Chamber, the businessmen were welcomed by a team of executives and watched a presentation about the highlight sectors of the Brazilian economy.
