São Paulo – Representatives of the governments of Jordan and Saudi Arabia met to discuss ways to increase agricultural cooperation between the countries, Jordanian news agency Petra reported. Jordan’s Agriculture minister Khaled Hneifat (pictured, L) on Wednesday (22) talked with a delegation from the Saudi Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Water. Topics addressed included ways to increase agricultural crops and foodstuffs exchange.
During a meeting, Hneifat stressed the importance of exchanging joint expertise to develop the agricultural sector in both countries, lauding Saudi cooperation in all fields.
Saudi undersecretary of the Ministry of Agriculture, Environment and Water Ahmed bin Saleh Khomshi (pictured, R) participated in the meeting. He pointed to Saudi Arabia’s keenness to develop agricultural ties with Jordan and provide possible facilitations, while maintaining requirements of safety and quality of agricultural products imported into the Gulf country.
Petra reported that Khomshi and Muhammad Hiyari, secretary-general of the Jordan’s Ministry of Agriculture held talks to discuss issues of common interest like the most important export obstacles and some procedures on the two countries’ borders.
Hiyari said Jordan lauds the Saudi Ministry’s cooperation and the rapid response to some follow-ups from the Jordanian Ministry of Agriculture. The Jordanian executive stressed the importance of developing means of contact through a joint committee that solves difficulties and helps maintain sustainable exports.
