São Paulo – Kitchen utensils by the United Arab Emirates-based RAK Porcelain are already being sold to luxury hotels and restaurants throughout Brazil. But the company’s representative in the country sees opportunities to expand sales to the hospitality sector.
“We see room for growth in hospitality since Brazil has a need for four and five-star hotels”, says Renato Arantes, director of Qualis, the Espírito Santo-based company that is the exclusive distributor to RAK Porcelain in Brazil.
Arantes doesn’t disclose numbers concerning volume and revenues of RAK’s sales in Brazil but says the company attends fairs and events to promote the products of the Arab company in the country.
For instance, at Equipotel, the hospitality and gastronomy fair scheduled to September 14 to 17th in the city of São Paulo, RAK will launch a new product line of colored porcelain. “The line is called New Fusion and has pieces in black, red, wine, brown and gray”, says Arantes. Overall, Qualis will put on display 20 product’s line manufactured by RAK at the fair, adding up to 600 to 700 different produts.
The launching of the colored line, which escapes from the traditional white porcelain, was made based on the demand of kitchen chefs, says the executive. “They are the ones creating the dishes and tell us that we have to create to them with porcelain [items]”, he points out. According to Arantes, RAK works closely to international chefs.
An example of this partnership is the participation by RAK of the Sirha event, the largest gathering of chefs in the gastronomy and hospitality industry, which will, for the first time, take place in Latin America. Created in France, Sirha will be held this year in Rio de Janeiro from October 14 to 16th. “It’s an event in which the world’s greatest chefs present their creations”, says Arantes. RAK’s porcelains will be used by the chefs in this edition of Sirha.
According to Arantes, Qualis has been working with RAK in Brazil for six years already. The executive says that the company keeps a permanent supply of the brand’s products for its clients in the country and sales are made by representatives of the company in all regions of Brazil. The Espírito Santo-based importer also represents brands from Germany, France, Belgium and Holland.
