São Paulo – Company Kilindas, from São Paulo, produces industrial machinery to make products like nappies, pizza, plastic bags, flip flops, sandals, soap, candles and also to cut and crease cardboard. Currently, the equipment is exported to seven countries and the company’s intention is to increase its participation in the international market.
"The foreign market was essential some years ago, when we had great growth. Today, it would be very important to return to having great distributors,” stated Amauri Moreira, the owner of Kilindas. Six years ago, he explained, exports represented as much as 45% of company revenues, with great sales in South Africa. Now they represent between 3% and 4%.
Currently, Kilindas machinery is sold to Venezuela, Mozambique, Mexico, Argentina, Angola, Portugal and Gabon. The machinery for production of nappies is the most exported, but the company have also already shipped machinery for cutting and creasing, as well as those for production of soap and plastic bags.
Moreira says that his greatest interest in the foreign market is finding a distributor who, apart from sales, may offer support and maintenance of the equipment. The businessman also points out his search for new markets. “North and Central Africa interest me much.” According to the businessman, between the countries, Morocco and Tunisia are the ones the company would like to enter.
Currently, the market is supplied by a distributor in France. Kilindas also sells to other distributors and end clients abroad. The equipment is distributed under order and, on average, the company produces between 40 and 50 machines a month. According to Moreira, up to 40% of production may be turned to the foreign market.
The prices of the machinery vary according to the equipment’s production capacity. With regard to the machinery for production of nappies, for example, the simplest model produces 600 nappies a day, while the most advanced produced 40,000 nappies a day, and the ranges from US$ 2,000 to US$ 560,000.
With monthly average of R$ 180,000 (US$ 90,000), Kilindas was established in 1990 and has 12 employees.
