São Paulo – The government of Mauritania and Britain’s Chariot Oil & Gas company signed a contract last week in Nouakchott, the capital of the African nationa, for oil production and sharing off the country’s coast. The information was supplied by the Qatar News Agency (QNA) .
According to the QNA, enterprises based in the United Kingdom and Malaysia have produced oil and gas in the region for years. The field which the contract concerns produces 11,000 barrels of oil per day since 2002.
Mauritania is rich in natural resources such as gold, iron ore, phosphate, uranium, copper, oil, among others. The country’s underground, however, is still underexplored.
