São Paulo – The streaming service Netflix acquired the rights for the Emirati drama series “Qalb-Al Adala” (Justice), and made it globally available this Wednesday (23), with the original audio in Arabic and subtitles in Portuguese, English, German, French and Italian.
Produced by Image Nation Abu Dhabi and Beelink, the series has 18 parts and is the first Emirati production to be streamed by the global platform. The information was released by Image Nation Abu Dhabi in a press release and widely reported by Arab and American vehicles.
The series was produced in partnership with Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, which acted as consultants on the show and provided access to real local cases to ensure authenticity on storylines.
Dr. Salah Khamis Al Junaibi, director of corporate communication and international cooperation at Abu Dhabi Judicial Department, wrote that the participation of the judicial department in the production of the series was “to help educate audiences about our legal system.”
Justice follows Farah, an ambitious and passionate young lawyer who has just returned home after having attained a law degree in the US. Farah’s father is one of the UAE’s top lawyers and has great ambitions for his daughter’s career at his prestigious firm. Although she has always looked up to her father, Farah, however, has other plans. She is determined to succeed on her own and does so while pushing the legal and cultural envelope in the process.
The series was created by Walter Parkes and the producer William Finkelstein, and is directed by Ahmed Khaled. It stars Fatima Al Taei, Mansoor Al Feeli, Mohamed Alamiri, and Malak Al Khalidi.
Image Nation chief content officer Ben Ross wrote: “Part of our mission is to continue to change perceptions about our region and we’re excited to showcase the [Middle East]’s culture positively and authentically to audiences around the world.”
Justice is the third Image Nation production to be picked up by Netflix, following the movies Rattle the Cage, telling the story of a recovering alcoholic who wakes up in a small town jail and is subjected to mental games by a psycho sadist, and “The Worthy”, a science fiction set in a not-too distant future, where a man risks his family’s life when he lets strangers come into his property.
The series Justice premiered regionally in the Middle East and North Africa on OSN Yahala in September 2017.
