São Paulo – Esporte Clube Sírio, a Syrian sports club from the capital city of São Paulo, will host a lecture in Portuguese on Palestine this Saturday (21), at 4:00 pm BRT, at its facilities. The event is organized by the club’s Arab Culture Center and will feature the president of the Arab-Palestinian Federation of Brazil (Fepal), Ualid Rabah. Participation in the lecture is free of charge and open to the general public, and no prior registration is required.
The theme of Rabah’s lecture will be ‘Palestine – A History of Apartheid’ [‘Palestina – Uma história de Apartheid’]. Rabah is the son of Palestinians who moved to Brazil and was born in Toledo, in the interior of the state of Paraná. He was a journalist for 11 years, militant in the student and trade union movements. He held the Arab seat of the Brazilian National Council for the Promotion of Racial Equality for eight years. Currently living in the capital city of Paraná, Curitiba, Rabah is now a businessman.
Founded in 1917, Esporte Clube Sírio offers leisure, culture, and sports activities to the population of São Paulo, in addition to promoting the preservation and dissemination of Arab culture, traditions, customs, and hospitality in Brazil. The club was founded by Arab immigrants.
