São Paulo – Poultry exports from Brazil slid in terms of revenue and shipped volume last June, whereas shipped volume went up in H1, the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA) reported. At least five Arab countries – Egypt, Libya, Kuwait, Yemen and Qatar – stepped up their imports in H1.
Raw and processed poultry exports came out to 342,000 tons in June, down 12.4% from a year ago. Revenue was down 31% to USD 446 million. Year-to-date through June, shipped volume was up 1.7% to 2.106 million tons, with revenue sliding 8.8% to USD 3.1 billion.
China was the leading importer of Brazilian poultry in H1, with imports up 32%. Sales to Singapore, the Philippines and Vietnam also went up. “Sales increased to African nations such as Egypt, Libya and Angola, as well as Arab nations such as Kuwait, Yemen and Qatar. This led to higher average monthly exports than in H1 2019,” ABPA CEO Ricardo Santin said.
