São Paulo – Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) has recycled more than 300,000 tons of construction and demolition waste (CDW), according to a report published by state news agency QNA, citing Ashghal. This figure was presented as part of the sustainability gains achieved through projects implemented since 2022.
The Public Works Authority also said it has reused and sent about 2.5 million cubic meters of excavated material to the recycling facilities of Qatar Primary Materials Company, which recycled about 80,000 tons of wood waste at its facilities and sent 7,000 tons of plastic waste, 3,000 tons of paper waste and 1,000 tons of scrap metal to approved recycling facilities.
Ashghal said it uses an integrated system to manage and recycle construction and demolition waste, improving resource efficiency, reducing waste and promoting circular economy principles in line with the goals of Qatar National Vision 2030 and the Third National Development Strategy, the country’s long-term development plans.
