São Paulo – Those interested in learning about and operate in the halal market can register for an online training titled “Explorando o mercado halal” [Exploring the halal market], to be offered by the Halal do Brasil project spearheaded by the Arab-Brazilian Chamber of Commerce (ABCC) and the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil) with the purpose of strengthening Brazil as a global halal food supplier.
The course is divided into three modules. The first will be an introduction on halal culture, followed by a presentation on the importance of the halal certification for Muslims, and Brazil’s role in this market, of which it’s a major player.
The second module will delve into global halal food and beverage data, outline the leading halal food and beverage importing countries, and how do halal and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) converge.
The third module will focus on halal marketing. The contribution and positioning of brands with halal products for the society will be presented in this phase of the training.
The modules will feature 15–20-minute classes and exercises. The course will have a total of eight hours, and students get a conclusion certificate by the end of it. In addition to the modules, the training is complemented by materials like podcasts and an infographic.
What is the halal market?
Halal goods are made according to the rules and procedures of Islam. These include not containing pork ingredients, follow certain animal health and welfare procedures for cattle and poultry slaughter, and other requirements. For a product or service to be dubbed halal, it has to be certified by authorized specialty companies.
Once adapted to the process required by the certifier, the firm is allowed into a consumer market of 1.9 million Muslims, as well as people who don’t follow the Islamic religion but seek the halal certification for the quality, hygiene and sustainability entrusted to the certification process.
The Halal project’s course is pre-recorded, online, featuring short objective classes, and can be watched by the registrant on their time and availability, from wherever they are. Deadline for concluding the modules and contents, however, is 60 days from the registration.
