Rio de Janeiro – Retail sales in Brazil slid 0.3% in June from May. Sales had already gone down 1.2% in May. The numbers are from the Monthly Trade Survey, carried out by the (IBGTE).
The drop was driven by supermarkets, food products, beverages and tobacco (-3.5%), after going up in April and May, and fuels and lubricants (-1.9%), whose sales declined for the second month straight. Sales went up in five out of eight segments, including furniture and appliances (4.6%) and office equipment and stationery, computers and communication (4.1%).
