São Paulo – Saudi Aramco, the national oil company of Saudi Arabia, is going to be at the 15th edition of the Rio Oil & Gas Expo Conference, due September 13 to 16 in Rio de Janeiro. The Arab company will have its own stand at the event, in which it will receive visitors and around 15 companies with which negotiation meetings have been previously scheduled.
"What we do know is that they want to buy. Saudi Aramco is interested in investing in the Brazilian market," says Bruno Stuck, technical analyst of the National Oil Industry Organization (ONIP), which is in charge of organizing the negotiation rounds at Rio Oil & Gas.
Stuck claims that in addition to receiving companies for negotiation, Saudi Aramco will also promote lectures every half hour, at its own stand, to explain to Brazilian companies the requirements for becoming a registered supplier of the Arab company.
During the business roundtables at the Rio Oil & Gas, 28 large buying companies are going to meet with 225 small and average ones. The so-called anchor companies will include Petrobras, Chevron, El Paso, Shell, Camargo Corrêa, Mauá and Transocean.
Rio Oil & Gas is considered the Southern Hemisphere’s leading oil and gas industry event and one of the largest in the world. This will be the event’s largest edition since its inception in 1982 (the event is held every two years). There will be 1,300 exhibitors from 26 different countries. Aside from Saudi Arabia, the fair will feature companies from the United Kingdom, Norway, France, the United States, the Netherlands, Denmark, China, Argentina, Belgium, Germany, Canada and Italy, among others. The trade show’s organizers estimate that in its four days, 40,000 visitors will pass through the Riocentro exhibition pavilion.
The fair’s conference facilities have been expanded by 50% compared with the previous edition. The technical committee received 1,096 synopses of works from 28 countries, out of which it selected 800 to be presented at the conference, divided into six thematic sections: Exploration and Production; Supply; Gas; Socio-Environmental Responsibility; Legal and Economic Perspectives; and Biofuels.
The event is free of charge for industry professionals, as long as they show an ID. For other interested parties, the ticket costs 100 Brazilian reals (US$ 58). Admittance is also freer for students over 18 years of age. Those attending higher education institutions may have access to the event for its entire duration. Secondary school students will be granted access only on September 16th.
