São Paulo – Saudi Arabia was one of the countries that stood out as a destination for Brazilian poultry exports in the first four months of this year, according to data released by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) this Tuesday (9). The Arab country purchased 119,500 tonnes of the product from January to April, up 36.9% over 2022’s same period.
In the same comparison, in 2023’s first four months, poultry protein exports from Brazil totaled 1.749 million tonnes, a volume 12.1% higher. Accumulated revenue reached USD 3.413 billion, 18.9% higher.
China was the leading destination for Brazilian poultry abroad from January to April, with 262,800 tonnes purchased, up 33.3% from 2022. Other noteworthy buyers were Japan, South Africa, the European Union, the Philippines, Mexico, and the aforementioned Saudi Arabia.
“While we see constant reductions in volumes produced and exported by some countries competing with Brazil, our exports continue to gain ground internationally, thus reaffirming the country as a solid partner at a time of great uncertainty due to issues such as avian influenza in many parts of the world,” said ABPA’s market director Luis Rua.
Solely in April, Brazilian poultry exports totaled 435,100 tonnes. The number exceeded by 4% shipments in 2022’s same month. Revenue added up to USD 840.3 million, 2.3% higher than last April.
