São Paulo – The potential for investment in infrastructure and works in the Middle East is the theme of the Seminar on Opportunities in the Building Sector in the Arabian Gulf, to take place on Thursday (10), at the offices of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce, in São Paulo. The free event precedes the Big 5 fair, the largest in the sector in the region, to take place from November 25th to 28th, in Dubai, and still has positions open for participation of Brazilian companies.
“These projects total around US$ 1 trillion,” said Michel Alaby, CEO at the Arab Brazilian Chamber, regarding the works that are spread out in several countries like the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman, Kuwait and Bahrain. “We are going to show how companies may make use of the fair to seek these opportunities in the building sector and all products connected to the environment, civil construction, water treatment, decoration, cooling, facing, wood, aluminium and others,” he explained.
Alaby recalled that there are Brazilian companies that have already set up roots in the region, having participated in hotel construction and even in the supply of granite for Abu Dhabi mosque. “They are projects that result from the presence of Brazilian companies that have been participating in the Big 5 since 2008,” he pointed out.
On the 24th, a day prior to the start of the fair, the Arab Brazilian Chamber alongside Trade, an international trade magazine, from Dubai, should promote an event on trade and investment in Brazil at a hotel in Dubai. “We will have companies like the Bank of Brazil and HSBC, as well as the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) and the Arab Brazilian Chamber itself,” said Alaby. The event will also include participation of a Brazilian lawyer, who will explain to foreign companies how to invest in Brazil and a representative from a Brazilian construction company that is operating in construction of World Cup stadiums.
“This is the second event of this kind that we are promoting. Last year, we had 100 local companies in the building, investment, banking and real estate sectors. The event is open to participation of Brazilian companies exhibiting at the Big 5, and they may develop networking,” pointed out the executive. Exhibitors will also be able to get in contact with Engeprot, a Brazilian company that has been operating in Dubai since 2004.
For companies interested in participating in the fair, Alaby also pointed out that, last year, the event received around 60,000 visitors from the whole Middle East. “It is only for professionals, not for the public in general,” he finished off.
At this year’s edition of the fair, the participation of companies Itagres (ceramic tiles), Tramontina (sinks and basins), Universo Tintas (paint), PBA Stones and Pettrus (both of ornamental stones) has already been confirmed. The Brazilian stand also counts on five available seats.
