São Paulo – The Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce and the Brazilian Export and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex) will promote the seminar “Focus Middle Eastern Market,” from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on November 10 at the Chamber’s headquarters, in São Paulo.
“We are going to present quantitative and qualitative data. We will provide an overview of the market and of how to do business with the Arabs,” says Michel Alaby, the Arab Brazilian Chamber CEO. In addition to attending talks, participants will have consultancy sessions available with specialists from the two organizations, to clarify questions on what they need in order to sell to the Middle East. The event’s target audience are exporting enterprises that intend to enter the Middle Eastern market or expand their business, in the case of those which already sell in the region.
This is the first time that the Apex and the Arab Brazilian Chamber promote a seminar of this caliber. According to Alaby, the event “is a way to learn and inform the enterprises of the existing market potential.” In his talk, the executive will tackle the characteristics and cultural aspects of doing business with the Arabs, the differences between negotiating with Arabs and non-Arabs, among other topics. Up until September this year, Brazil exported the equivalent of US$ 11 billion to the Arab countries, 25% more than in the same period of last year.
“We will discuss opportunities in the region and the solutions that the Apex offers to make the deals more tangible. Businessmen who operate in the region will discuss their experiences,” says Apex coordinator Juarez Leal. The Apex’s talks will cover product- and service-oriented market intelligence, participation in fairs and missions, and the support provided to enterprises by the agency’s Business Centre in Dubai.
According to Leal, the Middle East offers good business opportunities for companies in the fields of foodstuffs, housing and construction, fashion, and information technology. The Apex representatives will also discuss the fairs that the agency supports in the region, such as the Gulfood (foodstuffs), Big 5 (construction) and Index (furniture and decoration).
The event offers 70 openings for on-site participants. To those unable to attend, there is also the possibility of watching via webcast. Emails will be sent to businessmen in the Apex and the Arab Brazilian Chamber mailing lists, granting them access to the internet broadcast. Other interested parties may request access to the Apex, but will be subject to having their profiles evaluated, considering that the number of viewers is limited. At the end of the event, participants will be able to ask questions. Webcast viewers will also be able to submit questions. Questions left unanswered at the event will be clarified by email.
During the seminar, enrolments will also be accepted for the mission to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates that the Apex will promote in February 2012. The mission counts on support from the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade. Participants will also be allowed to enrol for the Big 5 construction fair, due November 21 to 24 this year in Dubai.
