São Paulo – Syria issued on Tuesday (8) its second call for a tender to purchase equipment for a gas turbine at the Banias Power Plant, in Tartus province, approximately 290 kilometers west of Damascus. Bids must be submitted by September 24.
According to information in the public tender notice released by the Syrian Embassy in Brasília, the tender is being conducted by the Banias Power Plant, which requires the supply and installation of a complete rotor with blades for a compressor and gas turbine used to generate electricity. Further information can be obtained by email at [email protected].
Since last year, Syria has been resuming operations at electricity-generating power plants. Part of the Banias plant resumed operations at the end of last year following a complete overhaul. Investments in the electricity sector are enabling the country to generate more power in a more stable manner. As of 2025, the Banias plant had only one of its four generating units in operation.
