The Arab country was the third leading destination for Brazilian beef from January to July this year. Exports to the Egyptian market expanded by 144%.
The Arab country stepped up by 319% its beef purchases from Brazil and ranked second among the leading importers, only behind China.
From January to September, the United Arab Emirates were the sixth leading destination for Brazilian beef abroad and increased its purchases by 14%. Brazil had an excellent performance in exports of the product in September, despite an embargo in some countries.
International sales of Brazilian beef grew in revenue and fell in volume from January through May. The UAE increased imports by 11.8% in the period.
Foreign sales of cattle meat decreased in terms of volume and revenue as most major destinations, including Egypt, stepped down their purchases.
Egypt, Saudi Arabia and UAE, the top Arab beef buyers, decreased their imports. Overall, though, Brazil exports hit a record high, reaching over 2 million tonnes in 2020.
Foreign sales from Brazil increased in the first ten months of the year, driven by China, as well as Saudi Arabia and the United States.
Shipped volume climbed 2% in September, even though export revenues decreased. China remains the leading importer year-to-date, with Egypt in second.
Beef shipments in February declined by 6% year-on-year. China reduced purchases.
The United Arab Emirates was one of the drivers of Brazilian foreign sales of beef year-to-date through October.
Egypt increased imports by 17.5% year-to-date, while the UAE acquired almost four times more, Abrafrigo reported.
