Taking stock of 2022, the year when the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce turned 70, its president Osmar Chohfi highlighted the record-breaking trade between Brazil and the Arab market, the launch of a halal project, the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries, and the expansion of electronic customs clearance system Easy Trade.

Private sector, government and academic representatives discussed investment and business diversification between Brazil and the Arab countries. More strategic alliances and a focus on technology, logistics and bilateral agreements were the highlights of the panel ‘Economic Integration for Competitiveness and Investments’ of the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab Countries.

Brazil’s president Jair Bolsonaro participated with a recorded speech in the Economic Forum Brazil & Arab countries on Monday (4). He said he expects the visit of authorities from Qatar, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and the UAE in Brasília and that relations with the Arabs have strengthened in the current global landscape.

The Arab countries bought USD 5.2 billion in Brazilian products year to date through April. High commodity prices drove the results up, but Brazil has also shipped larger volumes of soybeans, maize and wheat to the region.
