The Brazilian industry has been investing in flip-flops and transforming them into more than just footwear to use at home. The product accounts for half of the sector’s international sales.

Abicalçados estimates that exports should climb 21% next year, and production 19%. Figures show a recovery in the industry, which has been strongly affected by the pandemic.
Flip flop exports climbed 52% fueling overall sales last month to a total 9.5 million pairs.
Sales of comfortable footwear have been least affected since the Covid-19 crisis broke out. Nevertheless, flip-flop exports from Brazil have dropped.
